History of Naha
The history of Naha dates back to the Stone Age. In this era the first inhabitants of Naha left archeological relics behind, which were later discovered by archeologist in the late 1960. The first real settlers of Naha came to the town in around the 11th century. Around this time the town began to grow because of its trade with the Japanese and Korean empire. The town opened its borders for international trade in 1853 and became an important commercial destination for international trade. The town was battered in the Second World War but rebuild quickly because of its importance to the Island of Okinawa. Nowadays Naha is the main city on the Island that offers healthcare facilities and other governmental function.
